Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened For controlled saltiness.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar Adds depth and chewiness.
  • 2 large eggs For binding.
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract Enhances aroma.
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour Base for the cookies.
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda Leavening agent.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups chocolate chips Use high-quality for best flavor.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and both sugars until the mixture is smooth and light, about 2 to 3 minutes.
  3. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, fully incorporating each before the next. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually blend this dry mix into the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined.
  5. Gently fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
Baking
  1. Use a rounded tablespoon to drop balls of dough onto ungreased cookie sheets, leaving space for spreading.
  2. Bake for about 9 to 11 minutes, until the edges are golden and the centers are slightly soft.
  3. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

For deeper flavor, consider browning the butter before mixing. Chill the dough for about 30 minutes for thicker cookies. Use a cookie scoop for uniform sizing.
