Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup honey or maple syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Mix-Ins
  • 1 cup chocolate chips use quality chocolate for the best flavor
  • Sea salt for sprinkling to enhance flavors

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x9 inch baking pan with butter or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the rolled oats, flour, brown sugar, granulated sugar, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine the melted butter, honey (or maple syrup), and vanilla extract. Stir until smooth.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Gently fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  5. Spread the mixture evenly in the prepared baking pan, pressing it down lightly.
  6. Sprinkle a pinch of sea salt on top.
Baking
  1. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the center is set but still slightly soft.
  2. Allow the bars to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Don’t overbake for best texture. Store bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to five days. They can also be frozen for up to three months.
